i tweet, i travel, i need to blog more

Well, here's the deal: I am editing my life away! Okay, so that's not entirely true. I am tweeting and emailing and facbooking and editing my life away. And I don't mean I am editing my life away as in cutting out stuff; I mean I am editing my life away, as in spending all my time editing photos. :) And I really don't mind too much. It just doesn't leave me much time for blogging. That's where the tweeting and facebooking comes in... that's my mini-blogging, I guess. It really is a narrative of my daily life, in 140 characters or less. :)

Anyway, this afternoon I will be on a flight out to Montana, where I will shoot a wedding and get to visit with my amazing friend Jill. Montana is one of my favorite places in the world, so I am super excited about this trip! When I get back, I am vowing to cut back {a bit} on the tweeting and pick up on the blogging again, for real. I have a million and one photo shoots that I am dying to share with y'all! And as always, I have lots of stories to tell.

I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Anyone have any fun plans? Anyone else going on a cool trip?

the birth day of ethan light

A couple of weeks ago, on Wednesday, August 3rd, very early in the morning, I got a text I had been eagerly awaiting. I took a quick shower and rushed to my dear friend Anna Light's house. She was in labor with her first child! Anna had decided to have her baby in the comfort of her own home, assisted by the amazing Gail and Nikki of Community Midwifery Service, LLC. Anna was also assisted and supported by her wonderful husband and incredible family.

I absolutely LOVED being there. I photographed Cody and Anna's engagement session and wedding, Anna's bridal portraits and her maternity photos, so this was just another chapter in documenting their story. {Also, I am now 100% convinced that I want to have my future hypothetical babies at home, surrounded by those I love and who love me.}

I realize I am about to inundate you with images in this post. I probably should've made a slideshow, but I'm not really a slideshow maker, and I wanted to be able to talk about a few of the photos. However, I will keep the narrative brief, as I believe these images speak for themselves.

Anna made this calendar for Cody last year... Funny...

I loved watching Anna's parents throughout the day, as they watched and prayed for and encouraged their girl.

Please notice Anna's sister Erin, on the floor here. She was passing time by cutting out cloth diapers for her own baby, due in a few months! So cool.

Anna's sister Katie is a nurse and she had come straight from a long shift. She rested up a little and was a rock for Anna that day!

One of my favorite parts of the day was when Anna was getting really frustrated after being in labor all day, so she said we needed a game to do to distract her during contractions. She started calling out little exercises for us to do for the duration of each contraction! So funny! And it did distract her for a bit.

Anna and Cody didn't find out beforehand if the baby was a boy or girl, so everyone was super excited when he came out a boy, just as Anna and Cody had predicted!
